Purdue earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing on Sunday. They came out on top against Tennessee by a score of 72-66.
It was another big night for Zach Edey, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and 16 rebounds. The match was his 14th in a row with at least 22.4 points. Fletcher Loyer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.

Purdue is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 33-4 record this season. As for North Carolina State, their win bumped their record up to 26-14.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. The 2024 men’s Final Four opens on Saturday night with a matchup of two elite big men as Zach Edey and Purdue battle DJ Burns Jr. and North Carolina State. Tipoff from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, is at 6:09 p.m. Eastern.
This is the first of the two national semifinals with the University of Connecticut and Alabama set to meet later in the night to determine which two teams will play in Monday night’s national championship game.

Watch the madness continue this Saturday as Purdue and NC State take the court in the first matchup of the 2024 Final Four.
After weeks of intense games and bracket upsets in March Madness, the Final Four is finally here. The underdog NC State Wolfpack are set to take the court against No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers tonight to fight for a spot at the National Championship game. Purdue took down the Tennessee Volunteers 72-66 in an epic Elite Eight battle and NC State won against the No. 13 Duke Blue Devils 76-64. This will be NC State’s first Final Four appearance since 1983 and Purdue’s third. Though Purdue has made it close to winning the championship several times, they still never have, and NC State hasn’t taken home the title since their magical win 41 years ago (we can still see Jimmy V running around the court in search of someone to hug). Whether or not your brackets are still holding out, this is sure to be an exciting game.
The Purdue Boilermakers aim to advance to the National Championship Game for the second time in program history. After defeating Tennessee 72-66 in the Elite Eight, they're now just one win away from a long-awaited return. Meanwhile, NC State posted a 76-64 victory against Duke to enter the Final Four. If they win today, the Wolfpack will book their third trip to the National Championship Game and first since 1983.
The No. 1 Purdue Boilermakers — who finally ended their 44-year Final Four drought — will kick off the Final Four by becoming the latest team to square off with upset kings, the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack. NC State has pulled off titanic upsets nearly every step of the way, dating to their championship run on the 2024 ACC tournament, but against the title-hungry Boilermakers, the task may be harder than ever.
In the quarterfinal, the Wolfpack upset in-state rivals, the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils, with an emphatic 76-64 win in which NC State came from behind at halftime to outscore Duke 55-37 in the second half. The DJs were at peak form for the Wolfpack, with DJ Burns Jr. leading with 29 points, and DJ Horne putting up another 20 to surpass a whopping 32 points from Duke’s Jared McCain.
Purdue ended No. 2 Tennessee’s run on the tournament 72-66 in the Elite Eight, putting a stop to one of their biggest threats of the tournament so far. Zach Edey had a staggering 40-point performance across 39 minutes played, and grabbing 16 rebounds along the way for the double-double.
Whoever wins will face either UConn or Alabama for the title on Monday. Win or lose, both programs already know this will go down as one of their best seasons ever.
This year, N.C. State fans are placing souvenirs at Valvano’s grave back in Raleigh, while Burns and Co. have taken the program on an equally unbelievable ride. A team on a four-game losing streak and going nowhere heading into this year’s ACC Tournament has gone undefeated in a string of nine straight win-or-your-season-is-done games.
